About the Event

Join Valerie for an Intro to Ayurveda lunch and presentation at Ashtanga Yoga Long Beach this August 15th!

If you want to learn more about Ayurveda, here is your chance to taste one of the most iconic dishes in Ayurveda and learn about the principles that govern Ayurvedic wellness:

Originating in India over 5,000 years ago, Ayurveda is a system of healing that restores harmony to one's body, mind, and spirit. Translated as the Wisdom of Life, Ayurveda provides us with the pathway towards living life to its fullest potential. Relevant especially in this current climate of stress and disease exposure, the Ayurvedic lifestyle is one that builds the strength and resilience to withstand difficult challenges.

Join Ayurvedic Health Counselor Valerie for a discussion about the underlying philosophy behind Ayurveda, and how basic Ayurvedic principles can serve as a guide for healthy, balanced eating. In this talk we will cover:

  • What is Ayurveda?
  • The Causes of Disease
  • The 5 Elements and the 3 Doshas
  • The 6 Tastes of Ayurveda
  • How to identify your unique dietary needs
  • Further exploration in Ayurveda
  • Q&A

About the presenter: Valerie Hwang is an Ayurvedic Health Counselor based in Long Beach, CA. In addition to health counseling and teaching, she has studied Ayurvedic Nutrition and Culinary Education under Bhagavat Life by Divya Alter and greatly enjoys applying Ayurvedic wisdom to cooking and eating for balance and health. Eating healthy can be deeply nourishing and delicious!

A light, warm and healthy lunch will be served.

In addition, we will be creating a beautiful, sattvic dining experience with the help of Jenny from Neepa Hut with her gorgeous artisan home goods.

Space is VERY limited due to the current Covid-19 safety guidelines, so please be sure to sign up early! We kindly ask that participants stay masks when off their yoga mat and not eating or drinking. Thanks =)
