About the Event
In this workshop hosted by Community Yoga Club/Ashtanga Yoga Long Beach, we will discuss the principles of Ayurveda and Yoga in relation to mental health. Ayurveda, the ancient Science of Life, is a holistic system of medicine that takes into account all aspects of the human being when it comes to maintaining health and fighting disease. Without addressing the mind, we neglect a significant factor in our ability to stay healthy and vital.
Although often treated as two separate practices in the States, the sister sciences of Yoga and Ayurveda have been practiced in India for thousands of years together as part of an integrated and complete system of well-being. We will be discussing some of the principles used in Ayurveda that overlap with those of yoga, especially in the realm of the mind.
Our workshop will conclude with a discussion on some Ayurvedic and yogic practices that are supportive in maintaining a healthy mind. Workshop participants will also be given time during and at the end of the presentation to ask any questions they may have.
Registration: $36
